Colorado Volleyball Officials Association
(CVOA)

Recruiting

We Want More !!!
More, certified volleyball officials that is!

CVOA membership numbers are NOT growing in comparison with the number of
new schools, new programs and additional levels of play.  Members move,
retire, change hours of regular work and are busy.  Each year we are
lucky to have new members join us but we still need MORE.

We need each CVOA member to recruit one prospective member each year in
order to keep pace with Colorado volleyball.  Please help by getting the
word out and by encouraging prospective members to "go for it".  Think
of the people you know and come in contract with through work, social
events, friends and yes, even relatives!  Explain the basic membership
requirements and the financial issues.  Just suggesting they think about
becoming a high school volleyball official often is all that is needed
to encourage a person to become a CVOA member.

Volleyball officiating is a great part time job - think of college students
you know or people who would like to pick and chose their work schedule/
H.S. seniors from the Volletball teams are excellent candidates - encourage them
to stay involved in the sport and to give something back to the sport by
officiating.

Mention to scores, timers and line judges at the matches that we need
more officials for high school matches.  Also think of parents of those
seniors who will not be watching from the bleachers next season and who
just might like the best seat in the house - the stand!

Please carry the CVOA business card (light blue one) and give one to
people you think would make good officials.  Also try to write their
name and phone number on the back of another card and give it to your
Area Director so he/she can make contact with the prospective official
also.

Folks who are involved in volleyball usually make good officials so
check out the rec. leagues and suggest that they think about officiating
high school volleyball.  Let them know that their understanding of the game
will make it that much easier to become a good official.

Often just letting people know that you officiate volleyball will get them
thinking that perhaps they too might enjoy the life of an official and
with your encouragement, CVOA will gain members.  Let your fellow office
mates, your friends, teammates and yes, even your relatives know how
much fun it is to be involved in high school sports and then encourage
them to join us.

If you need more information, call your Area Director or any of the CVOA
officers (see the area directors page).  Thanks for helping us recruit - remember how you got started
and help someone follow in your footsteps.
